You used to be able to drive through Port Chicago on public roads, crossing all three parallel railroads (SP, ATSF, SN) at this spot, until the military closed all public access through the area (essentially, Martinez to West Pittsburg). The SP depot was torn down in the mid-1970s. The Santa Fe depot was picked up and barged over to Suisun City for a business project (restaurant?) that never happened. I believe it was finally burned down by the Suisun Fire Dept. for practice.
Port Chicago is now just a big open field with a bunch of tracks. You can get a good look by riding Amtrak through there.
