The bus difference in PDX

One clear advantage of riding the bus on TriMet is that fact that at least the operator is located in the same space as the passengers, and is much better able to control passenger behavior. For example a bus driver can just refuse boarding to an obviously intoxicated or belligerent rider. After riding the Max for 4 years, I have witnessed all kinds of out there behavior without any response from the Max operator.
