I could be wrong, but I would imagine that #8 is going to need a whole lot of mechanical work (read $$$) before it rolls under steam again.

I'm not sure what sort of work was done on it after it left Portola, but while it was there, it really got little more than a cosmetic restoration. Others might claim otherwise, but they know better...
