So much incomprehensible ignorant leftwing minutia, so little time. Seriously, what exactly are you trying to say here .....?
"As a resident of Washington and residing not too far from a refinery that already receives Bakken Shale oil, over an old swing bridge and along if not pristine, very alive coastal shore- and wetlands, I can see no harm in close scrutiny in light of Lac Megantic and Casselton, and the "commerce clause" has less to do with this than Federal legislation that uses that clause to sweep all RR regulation into Federal hands, much to the benefit of the RRs, and demolishing more local regulation that had to be instituted in the days of the tycoons!"
^^^^^^
Incomprehensible ignorance.
As for what it is the Washington Democrats are trying to pull off here via an attempt at State regulation of the railroads, you might benefit from taking a look at States that have successfully (so far) nullified federal and Constitutional statutes on things like the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms uninfringed, or criminalizing the free exercise of one's religious convictions. Then add to that a President who has stated unequivocally that he will simply enact legislation on his own without the participation of Congress via executive orders. Then add to that the fact that the President has already successfully packed the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals with 4 extra judges who will simply rubberstamp his fascist agenda, and will probably pack the Supreme Court with a few more extra judges before all is said and done.
Take all that into consideration, and then come back here and try to defend your misplaced idealism ...... whatever it was you were trying to say, I'm still not sure. You're for State regulations of railroads that in effect nullify Federal statutes? Or was it Presidential orders that in effect nullify Congressional legislation? Or is it the predictable "oil bad, Bambi good" environut POV?
For that matter, why are you even trolling here on a railroad forum if you think railroads (as a component of the greater Big Industry bogeyman) are part of the Axis of Industrial Evil?
Also, keep this in mind - the Washington Democrat Party will obey the dictates that come down from the Obama regime, and if He has instructed the Wa Dems to block or harass BNSF and UP per shipments of coal and oil, then that is the explanation for why the Wa Dems would even attempt to overstep their Constitutional constraints.
