Please, somebody tell me from somewhere among the posters on this board, what the first clause of the Second Amendment says, and then tell me what that has to do with this ruling from a partial panel of the 9th circuit (which,as has been pointed out elsewhere, is in conflict with rulings from other Federal appellate courts and likely to end up before the Supremes, who also don't seem to able to read sometimes) Flame away, if you wish, but better bring some ink eraser so you can rub out the offending words in the document and in REAL U.S. history, not the Hollywood/myth-making version. Mr Madison. either intentionally or inadvertently was too ambiguous in his wording and not foresightful enough to see the upshot of the mass production of arms as developed by Eli Whitney, and the baying lunacy that seems to have gripped a fearful, inscure cohort of the American people who see threats lurking in every shadow and insults from every direction, viz. the retired police captain in Florida recently.
Oh, by the way, my late brother was exactly twenty years a peace officer, and he did have to draw a couple of times, and I couldn't have supported him more in doing so.
So when you join a well-regulated militia in the absence of the U.S Army AND the National Guard, while they're otherwise engaged, you can positively claim your adherence to the letter of the law. I'm sure that P.G.T. Beauregard felt the same as you all at Fort Sumter in April of 1861!
