George....where have you lived all your life? This is nothing new. Most large citiescrime states show that a number of crimes especially auto theft are performed by the public transportation( especially where its reduced or free) riding criminal.
The suburbs have been under seige by the urban criminal riding public transport for years. I'm sure you can trace it all the way back to LBJ and urban renewal.
The area where I reside is 10 miles from the city and a population of one half million. We have been fighting the extention of bus lines for over a decade just for that reason. JUST SAY NO TO MASS TRANSIT. it will keep the crime rate down.
