In 1995 I was working as Auditor for Sierra Railroad, and also as locomotive engineer. Around May or June of 1995 I was forced to sit-in on a meeting with new owners Mike Hart and Walt Hoeffler, and General Manager Wehman Caldwell. This took place at Chinese Station. Hart & Hoeffler wanted to widen all curves between Oakdale and Cooperstown, so we could operate freight trains at 60 MPH. They insisted we were going way to slow.
Their other "vision" was to build an entirely new railroad from Chinese Station, up through Groveland, and into Yosemite Valley to carry mostly passengers. This was also to be "high speed" track. Wehman and I had to listen to this garbage for 2 hours. Didn't know they even shared this crap with Trains magazine.
