You're talking about two completely opposite types of equipment.

A slug does not have a prime mover or main generator, thus it must receive power for its traction motors from a powered unit.

SP's rotary snowplow power units (commonly referred to as "snails") do not have traction motors. The electricity their prime movers produce provide power for operating the blade in the rotary they are mated to.
