I only can be thankful that most of my various collection of electronic junk will rest itself, except for one old DVD player, and the microwave.

Railroads did try to identify a way to standardize our time system, with one extra time zone to boot, just because. And, tried setting noon as close a possible to the maximum midday sun, in that zone, as possible. The zones are arbitrary for convenience (giving the earth a 25 hour day) and midday maximum sum time actually varies by location.

Back during our world wars, we wanted more "working hours" of daylight, and since summer days are longer, daylight savings time, and at various times "war time, was adopted. that new fangled infernal automobile would run over those "old timey" kids walking that 10 miles to school in the morning "darkness".

Nowadays, Daylight Saving Time is justified in small energy savings by artificially manipulate the work day, mostly form turn the air conditioning on an hour "later".

I should also note that in studying peak period congestion patterns, some evidence also exists that Daylight Savings Time has a positive impact on level of congestion. This is because more pm peak light tends to "spread" load, and results in less traffic "compression", creating slightly less congested conditions, fewer accidents, and smoother flow, than would otherwise be the case. Which is really good, because people also drive a lot more during those months and if they didn't spread out, and pm peak traffic would really suck, even more.

It should be now noted that these Daylight Savings Time energy effects would also benefit us, and the traffic impacts on the PM peak are just as much, or possibly even more, on the shorter winter days, when you are often driving home in the dark.

Since Standard Time is an arbitrary invention established for convenience and economic benefit, this argues for year around daylight savings time being adopted as the new permanent "standard" time.

It should be noted that there is very little data to support any of this purported threat to children going to school in mornings from that infernal auto. Since winter is actually a "low" driving period compared to spring and summer, children may actually somewhat safer, since this seems to be a "function" of levels of auto use, which are much higher in Spring and Summer.

Imagine more time to Barbeque outside after work?

Just remember what the old farmers like to say about daylight savings......the roosters aren't confused.
