A brass foundry isn't of much use when it comes time to drop HEP for 20+ minutes as the power is swapped around, air tests are made, and so forth. In theory the move to Oakland allows crews to put the outbound train back together and be ready to go for an on-time departure. Today it left with the new unit over 7 hours late due to a mechanical issues with the diner.
