Funny how UP expects the world to revolve around its ahole!
During the summer of 2012 UP asked the OPR for permission to bring a train consisting of two locomotives and several business cars to operate their "family days" train out of Oaks Park on the OPR. Since the ex-Portland Traction line was jointly owned by SP/UP I specified that the power must consist of the 1996 and a UP unit to honor the heritage of the line. UP agreed; however, we were told that they would rather not have our ex-PTC SW-1 in attendance as it was a "UP event".
Of course the OPR granted permission...we all help each other out...right..and the event went off without a hitch and hundreds of UP guests were treated to a train ride along the river through Oaks Bottom. I even asked the MOP on board if I could run the 1996 one direction...response: "YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO OPERATE UP EQUIPMENT"! HELLO...who the F's railroad is it anyway?
Wonder what the response will be when OPR asks UP for a favor or vice versa in the future?
