Very true, also like horse drawn buggies, wagons, etc.--put out in the yard to display. All this machinery was never left outside when it was in use, Locomotives in roundhouses, etc. and wagons in barns. The stuff doesn't fare well in the outdoors! And then there's the human issue (well, some would say the vandals aren't human!).
