Whatever! Who Cares!

Sen. Blumenthal is, was, and always will be, well known as "The Blumen Idiot"!

But then again, a majority of those currently holding the office of U.S. Senator, would also fit that description very well, especially those two California specimens. They are at best, a very not funny joke!

They EARNED my disrespect in the wake of the Cantara Loop disaster, with their political lobbyist motivated interference with the NTSB investigation. This has resulted in the perpetuation of seriously hazardous methods of hauling environmentally dangerous agricultural chemicals. All to the special benefit of the suppliers of said chemicals and to the detriment of the environment; and to the detriment of railroads, which still must take on those risks, without being able to to impose proper mitigation requirements. An all too frequent case of political pseudo-science used in ways that actually harm the environment.

They later earned PROFOUND DISRESPECT, as they lead the knee-jerk Senate response to the Chatsworth accident. Again relying upon political pseudo-science and blatantly false claims by a certain railroad supply corporation and the now compromised NTSB.

During their tenure, they have clearly and thoroughly corrupted the NTSB, and compromised its independence. And without truly independent investigation of accidents, we are doomed to keep repeating them. So now we have the impending debacle of PTS, which due to its Senate mandated reliance on fallible types of technology, will itself cause not just a few accidents all on its own - just as similar systems in Europe have already done.

Of course, this is also not unlike the long standing and frequent Senatorial interference with banking and mortgage regulators doing their jobs, which directly lead to our current and long lasting economic debacle.

So yes, those those two California Senators, and a majority of those currently holding the office, do fit the description of "Bloomin' Idiot" very well. And I'm not laughing much at all at the very fine mess they've gotten us into. But why should I be so surprised?

OPB

PS - Just to be clear, this sort of corporate corruption crosses all partisan boundaries. But this is about only its impact upon railroad safety - and inescapably of course, the public well being in general; both of which have been seriously harmed by this self-serving bunch of idiots.

And BTW, their idiocy far surpasses in public harm, any gun toting idiocy ever exhibited by any member of this forum - BAR NONE! ! ! So why don't we just leave the man alone, and waste our time complaining about something that actually matters - as in the above.
