Re: Palo Alto residents protest Caltrain Electrification

I object to Caltrain's electrification project for two main reasons:
1. Caltrain will not be able to carry more passengers after
this wasteful, unnecessary project is done. To carry more
passengers, Caltrain will need to run longer trains -- much
longer than the 5-car trains they now always run. They really
should spend the money they are wasting on electrification on
buying more cars and more locomotives and hiring more crew
to run and staff and maintain the trains.
2. Caltrain will have to cut down many mature and very tall trees,
because those trees will be in the way ot the infrastructure they
have to install to run off of overhead catenary. I do not want
any trees cut down!
Those of you who do not live in this area should really educate
yourselves about what the real drawbacks of this overly-costly and
unnecessary project are, and you should also stop ridiculing those
of us who are opposed to this project. We have very good reasons
to oppose this project.
