I wonder if it'd be better for the BNSF to rebuild the old Milwaukee main from Lind west to Ellensburg or even Cle Elum - this would not only add track capacity but also reduce the running time from running trains south to Pasco and then back north through the Yakima Valley. There'd be at least 60 miles saved in distance.
