I own many Morning Sun titles, including 14 DL&W / Erie / Erie Lackawanna, all 5 Espee in Color & 3 Espee Equipment, as well as a handful of Rio Grande, Northern Pacific & Milwaukee Road, a few of the Trackside series, several of the BN / NP Equipment Series, and Penn Central Power, ( in Black & White ) the book that started it all for Bob Yanosey.
IN MY OPINION, the books I have are only as good as their authors. Based on the forwards & acknowledgements by the various authors, it appears to me that Bob Yanosey gives the authors more or less free reign over the accuracy of the historical facts. It's worth mentioning that much of the material presented is 50 years or more old, as are the authors' memories !!! Jim Boyd did an excellent job overall on the Espee in Color series, as did Larry DeYoung on the E-L ( he was once president of E-L Historical Society ). I suspect that Bob Yanosey acts as more of an editor and publisher, NOT a proofreader.( I don't know if the authors are given a proof copy to review before going to press. ) It is important that we recognize the errors in Morning Sun books and call them out; however I also believe we should be thankful for the ALL - COLOR content of sometimes rare subjects, at a reasonable price.
I do not agree with Morning Sun dropping the critical facebook comments, however most of the Social Media, including this forum, have a way of making some people rather thin - skinned, while giving others the False Bravado that comes from hiding behind an alias. Flame Away...
