Columbia Basin used one of the SW1200s for the Yakima switcher, rotating them with one of the three in service at any one time. One of them was occasionally leased to Yakima Central for the Toppenish-White Swan branch. Columbia Basin was looking to purchase more SD9s to handle their increasing traffic and were offering the SW1200s for sale as surplus to their needs preferring to assign a road unit as the Yakima switcher.

I did see an odd SD9 (probably the Twin Rock unit) set out at Wallula a month or so ago.
