I am on the Trenitalia mailing list because I sometimes buy and print tickets to travel in Italy.

The law got changed in Italy and now allows competing companies to run passenger trains. This has caused some interesting discounts and special deals to appear. Nothing like a little competition. Of course all those high speed lines first had to be built by the government.

The Ferrari trains ARE nice, leather seats and all, but so are the "arrow" trains of Trenitalia. Service at certain times is almost as frequent as BART.
