I too remember "... Bill Keene in the KNX Traffic & weather center..." I began my driving career in SoCal, and Bill Keene's traffic reports were essential to getting around. I recall a few of his puns as well : " A ladder in the roadway -- they'll take steps to remove it ", or " A ladder in the roadway -- you don't want to be a Rung - Way driver." I also recall Bill Keene's last traffic report the day he retired; not a dry eye in the studio they said.
The day of the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995, I first heard of it on KNX Newsradio while driving between Yakima & Ellensburg, WASHINGTON !!! There was a hell of an AM Signal bounce that night.
