Remember, the railroad crosses US 2 just south of Winton. Last report I heard had the fire south of there by about 4 miles. It is my understanding that the fire fighters have been reinforcing the fire lines on the north side of the fire using old logging roads as firebreaks. IN GENERAL, the winds have tended to drive the fire south and east, but if you use the fire that took out a good chunk of Pateros as an example, they're fairly fickle, and can change direction at any time.

Right now here in Rock Island (about 10 miles south of Wenatchee) they're blowing quite hard.
