BART's noise problem

Speaking of BART's "noise problem" -- what is that about? The "singing" of their steel wheel on steel rail is not only loud on the train, but can be heard blocks away from the surface and elevated portions of the line. But I have not heard the same from "heavy rail" passenger and freight trains in the area, some of which are travelling at the same speeds.
