Not entirely true about RR jobs and the depression. My dad went to work for the DRGW in '28
as a stenographer in the general office. You just had to willing to work and learn from what he told me. He could take shorthand as fast and anyone I came in contact with. He never forgot and it was sometimes interesting to see the phone messages he left for us at home. From there to chief clerk in Pueblo and on to the traffic department for the rest of his career than spanned 44 years.
