My great grandfather was laid off of the MILW...worked in a tin shop 10 hour days and split wood for twenty five cents/cord...then went home for dinner and bed. If you were hard working there usually was work of some kind. You did good to get a quarter per hour for work but bread cost ten cents a loaf.
