I tend to agree with the conductor. What incentive would the railroads have to allow bridges, or any other track assets to deteriorate, or become unsafe? And before the PUC hires any bridge inspectors, has a problem with bridges been defined, and if there are problems, would inspections mitigate the problem? Perhaps I’m a right winger, but in general I’m opposed to growing government just for the sake of making government more intrusive and larger with no commensurate direct benefit to the taxpayer that pays the bill.
