There is an excellent book about the Uintah Railway:
"Uintah Railway: The Gilsonite Route", by Henry Bender,
a SF Bay Area railroad historian. It is a very interesting
book on a fascinating railroad. Yup -- a 7.5% grade and a
65-degree curve! (Gilsonite is a natually-occurring for of
asphalt.)
