Philippe's, two blocks north of LA UPT two blocks south of River Station is still there today, and home the displays by the LA Museum of Railroading.

Long gone are great RR haunts like the Chinaman in Brawley.

King Taco started up on Cypress, but a five minute walk over the bridge from the Taylor C yard shanty.

Red's Roost, the Birdcage, and Red's Place in Yuma and Winterhaven were good places to get stewed on a long tie up. After the Roost closed (1 am Arizona time), you could run the "gauntlet" (CHP, Imperial County Sheriff's, and Tribal Police), cross the river, and still drink for two hours more in California.

McCabe's in Venice was a great little place to stop, when one had a long night, on all of the Culver City branches, and had to go deliver Kennebec's to the French Fry works at the end of the branch. Occasionally, it was reported that some crews offered to give tours of the engine and caboose, to cute hippie chicks behind McCabe's.
