As you have seen from some of these so-called/self-styled environmental groups trying to screw around with the NWP, there are many attention seekers, front groups, and various others who will try to block anything.......
Often much of this turns out to be just internet rumors and/or special interest funded nuisance suits, or actions taken by enviro wannabee's to build "cred", and/or raise their profile to "fleece" the environmental flock, with a fundraising campaign. And, usually these meritless cases are tossed rather quickly.
Our environment is under threat in many ways, and there are many legitimate groups who are doing worthwhile things, to try to prevent real harm. There is also a massive new growth industry of secret corporate funded tax exempt front groups, political front groups, and various wannabee's, often funded by secret contributions, and that may or may not care about the environment one wit.
We've lately seen a proliferation of these anti-fracking front groups (and there can be some real problems with fracking depending on where, what kind of geology, how deep, and other factors), that appear to have significant funding from unknown sources. Maybe, it's just the coal industry fighting cheaper natural gas? Since the funding is secret to most of these tax exempt, so-called "educational," non-profit groups, you don't really know. So caveat emptor.
UP owns the ROW, and it is very wide through the Park. They have not had any significant problems with the service that I know of.
