We pre-ran and ran the Parker 400 off road race for years and never saw a tortoise yet the race
was moved out of California for that reason. Course ran through what was Patton's tank training
area, wonder if they saw any tortosies (torti??). Rerouting the train was certainly kill the canard
that it's transit time was less than driving (unless you're a railfan who drives 100 miles to
cover 20).
