If all railroads always acted in an ethical manner, then I suppose Chicago & North Western wouldn't have done line sales the way they did, in other words, not selling trackage in Owatonna to DM&E, not selling Chadron-Dakota Jct to Nebkota, isolating the Colony Line and the the Wausau, Hayward, and Upper Peninsula lines, and so on and so forth. Then also Conrail wouldn't have abandoned as much as they did, Penn Central would have never existed, and the Milwaukee and the Rock might still exist. And so on and so forth.
