I was asked about this study over a year ago, and predicted that compared to the surrounding "ambient" air pollutions next to one of the busiest truck corridors (I-5) in the city that Metrolink Taylor yard would be statistically "white noise" for diesel particulate exposure.
It is good to see that Mook can still read the Caltrans AADT count book and understand what it means in terms of pollutant exposure to trucks. I had a few new planners who were so math averse that understanding of the importance of such data was lacking.
Having worked at Taylor Roundhouse back in the "good old days" when locomotives where 12-15 times dirtier, and there were about 40 times more locomotives in operation on any given day, it was pretty bad.
Having heard this "good news", it is interesting how quickly this good news got trolled.......?
Bob, EGBOK....! Finding truth, in a world where so many folks deal in outright self serving lies, or bull they've just pulled out of their butts, or heard from nitwits on the internet, and then make even dumber decisions that waste our money, is actually money well spent for a change.
