Want to run an Initiative to institute optional (at the death-row inmate's option) firing squads (as Utah has done) or hanging as alternatives to the drug treatment, and mandating that once the necessary appeals are done (focusing on real aspects of the trial not whether or not it's "cruel and unusal punishment") one of the methods is chosen and executed within a limited amount of time? It would be noisy politics, but I suspect you might get more votes in CA than you might think. Properly timed, it might even get enough signatures to qualify. If it were passed, it would certainly shake up Death Row. And what does this have to do with trains, anyway?
