Albuquerque used to be a busy passenger station on the ATSF, back in the day, so it actually has four station tracks with platforms. The depot is on the geographical west side of the tracks, then the South bound (RR West) and North bound (RR East) mains and two siding tracks. The SW Chief pulled into the first siding track and very thoughtfully dropped us off under an overpass (Shade!), then continued on its way to Chicago.

The layout includes crossovers at each end of the station tracks, so the LA bound SW Chief was able to back in and pick us up after doing its station work three days later. Note that this is traditional double track, so all the switches are hand operated, but the operation was still done quickly and efficiently by the crew.

Back when the Santa Fe Southern was still in operation we would have been dropped off in Lamy, then hauled by them to downtown Santa Fe, but that isn't possible anymore.
