SMART San Rafael Work Platforms and Crossings

Here are some images of SMART construction in San Rafael.

This is excavation for the westbound platform at the downtown San Rafael station. What a shame that they chose these high platforms and the old NWP depot is going to be demolished.

Blocks loaded on the contractor's flatcars at Ignacio, probably for a retaining wall at Haystack but I'm not sure. Why would they be loaded here instead of just trucked there?
