Comments on failure or imperfections of capitalism are inane.
Capitalism does not purport to predict the future. Read some history, start with the South Seas Bubble and work up.
It permits folks to risk their, and investors who join them, to RISK money in hopes of getting more money- called return on investment. Shysters have conned America into an idea that life
should be risk free, and if one does something stupid, someone else- with deep pockets, must pay up [less oh 30% or so]
With notable exceptions like Mr. Ponzi and that latest guy Madoff- who got people to invest their money freely if stupidly, ENTREPRENEURS work their asses off to make the risk pay off- some lose their ass and try again. Mayde Mssrs P & M worked their asses off at endless cocktail parties promising too-good -to-be-true returns . Eating a lot of caviar and pate de fois can be a dirty job.
Enjoy your personal computer ?? Did you buy Apple, when it went public, knowing all the time there would be an Iphone . Or did you invest in Altair, Eagle on and on . When DSL gets involved in bidness , the story is quite different. They make rules, working almost 8 hours a day , almost 5 days a week. Do those folks predict the future? " A blind squirrel trips over an acorn once in awhile" The folks who are creative, and not necessarily overladen with scruples, spend twice the effort to find the loopholes, using twice the talent provided by gummint drones. And when DSL gets involved, it gives other peoples' money to so called entreprenuers- free tax money. Say DOJ and Eric The Weasel, how's that investigation [ wink wink, nod nod] going? Still can't comment on Solyndra cuz it's er "ongoing"? Hardly free enterprise or capitalism The romans didn't coin the phrase CAveat Emptor for nothing.

Back to the Bakken, and the Permian and Pennsylvania gas-fracking.
Last nite the King of the Saudis died at age 90. His half brother takes over at 80.
The news this am sez the OPEC [ that is Saudis- Venezuela is getting killed by low oil prices BWahahahaha] will continue production levels, maybe, probly, sort of. Even if so , how long will the new guy live? Probly a more important question to the freeworld is- will he continue to reduce the oppression of Muslim women at least at the previous snail's pace? And next in line??
If that Xpipeline were being built, some folks could go to work on it until and if prices change- and the Saudis, would have to consider their oil production decisions in light of oil from Canada being delivered to an economical reach of Europe. "Bargaining Chip"
Too bad the gummint is not involved- those folks could keep their jobs doing nothing, well not jobs really in the sense understood by folks who actually do work, but paychecks.
Or instead of using private sector Canadian money to build the Dread pipeline the gummint can print money for 'infrastructure' [ which does not include, in the DC definition RRs or pipe]
But the HUA DS in DC is an idealogue not a world thinker, so ? Besides right now he has work to do to get The Bomb for Iran, and get Cuba back on its feet and the lifestyle of the cop killers and bank robbers who added hijacking to the rapsheets can be improved YAY.
Don't sell the tank farm just yet
