That's a lotta information-thanks- so I'll rely on asking questions of others rather than do my homework.
By the late date I presume the ammunition ship explosion at Baypoint near Concord was fresh in the mind of the rest of the area . That incident killed what, over 400 folks? and is still being written about from civil rights points of view.
I despise NIMBYs as a rule, such as the bright folks in Berkeley who wrote a letter a coupla months ago to Kern County complaining about the oil unloading facility approval, etc.
I have done some homework about the Pacific War. Although the USN THOUGUT they had plastered some of the islands before Marines were landed , the USMC were repeatedly mauled by survivors- .
