These railroads were owned by Weed Lumber which later became Long-Bell Lumber. The logging grade which became the southern section of the Natron Cutoff ran from Weed to Grass Lake. The section was replaced with the Black Butte Cutoff since the old logging lines SP was using had 4% grades. As far as sawmills go, I seem to recall there was a sawmill or something along those lines that was apart of the Sacramento Shops complex.
