I was out Kanasket way just a week ago; no sign of any coal loading at Ravensdale, for trains or trucks. The Herzog tie train was in Kanasket siding. Pretty sure the coal train you saw was switching out a bad order, as Wesley noted. Trains use the Stampede Sub as a switching lead all the time, as it allows them to pickup or setout without having to foul the Main track and several grade crossings in downtown Auburn. The empty coal train from Centralia commonly uses the Stampede Sub for its' return move to Spokane & points East. This trainset is easy to spot, as it uses bottom - dump hoppers rather than bathtub gons.
