I began to document the Santa Cruz Branch when I remarried in 1983 and moved to Santa Cruz. At that time the Santa Cruz Local was based out of Watsonville Jct. and often ran 6 days a week. Around the end of 1984 it was a 5 day a week operation. Typical power was 4 to 6 GP9/SD9s with cabooses. When SP downsized Watsonville Jct all the locals then ran from Salinas.
