After the line north of Eblis was embargoed around 1982 the Local was generally a five days a week operation. The Local would pull into the Santa Cruz yard and the power would cut off and handle any in-town switching. In the '80s there were still several shippers at Eblis in north Santa Cruz and Orby in west Santa Cruz. It was easy to tell if Eblis was going to be switched by the Local if there was a BN boxcar lettered "For Hide Service Only" in the consist. Those cars were for Salz Tannery. The only other shipper I saw in the '80s at Eblis was Las Animas Concrete. Occasionally after switching Eblis the crew would park the engines at the south entrance to tunnel 6 and go to lunch. After beans the crew would pick up their train and head out to Davenport. Other spots the crew would park the train for lunch were downtown Davenport and Aptos.
