Local lore and legend has it that shortly before SP sold the NWP North End to GATX/Eureka Southern, a westward (southbound) train was derailed at Longvale siding. Cause was said to be a split switch with evidence of lock tampering. The proximity to public roads suggested malicious vandalism.
Anyone else remember that incident?
