It's railfans like you that give railfans who actually abide by the rules a bad name. You're the reason why the rest of us are finding it harder and harder to get decent photographs. The cantilever is railroad property, and it is very dangerous for you to be up there. In my opinion, you are very lucky you didn't get arrested. You should be happy that you only got a citation.

If you want an overhead shot of a train, take it from a public place (like an overpass), or buy one of those new helicopter drone cameras. Do you really want to ruin railfanning for everyone else, just so you can get what you think is the "perfect shot"? Think about it. Is it really worth yours, or someone else's, life? The Special Agent did you a favor.
