For the BNSF Only... I can't say for the other guys.

There is still MRAS/PBX coverage for the system. There are areas in Montana and Washington that we get into that don't have cell phone coverage. (Sucks, I know! Thanks a lot Verizon) But the MRAS is available.

Now with the new rules to Report your work. We are required to call the computer (VTR) and report any setouts, pick ups, arrival, departure, work order prints, etc. So, the MRAS does come in handy when you are in Gibson, Washington, trying to report your work that you just picked up grain cars at Wilson Creek. (Only 1x cell phone coverage in Wilson Creek, and you loose cellphone coverage until you get to Odessa. (3G coverage there.)
