Quite a bit was lost in that blaze, a couple of historic Passenger cars owned by Solano Railcar. I worked for the owner from 1980 until his death. I helpd put together the donated car "hospital train" that took the historic pieces left up to Portola & even (can tell now, thing statue of limitations is up) road the private car up to Portola. The other nefarious thing I did was pose as a car knocker to check off the friction bearing lubricating. Trust me, the trip was a pretty wild ride! Think the crew knew we were aboard though.
Thinking about it, I may have been one of the last people to ride the table in Oroville.
