Between Rathdrum (middle left) and Ramsey (upper right), Diagonal Road runs parallel to the original NP right of way. They made a slight line change toward the south to eliminate an abrupt rise immediately northeast of Rathdrum. Click to satellite view to see the wooded nature of that area. Most of the trouble takes place halfway between the Hwy 41 overpass and the Ramsey Road crossing.

Contractors have been trimming back the forest between Rathdrum and Ramsey and doing some preliminary grading to make way for what will eventually be another much-needed segment of second main track on the Funnel.
