Isn't there an online "Fans of the BNSF" (or something like that), where one can register as a friend of the railroad?
Of course, you will be challenged by railroad special agents for trespassing, whether you entered the RoW to remove an obstruction or you took personal action over a safety issue. Commendable as your actions may be, you really don't belong on the property and they have to enforce the law with you.
However, I think if you're already registered as a friend, that might tone down the official response to your trespassing incident, and get you off with a warning.
