Several attempts by trails advocates are being postured against the Placerville Branch.The general services department is proposing to Supervisors in two weeks a trail bridge over Missouri Flat Rd but asking to tear out 1.5 miles of track to build a trail citing it's cheaper- this is basically a ruse to assist trails- a bridge does not require ant track removal.A trail alternatives study is bering completed by a transportation Commission planner under self supporting grant funding to basically advocate to remove or cover over all track in county. A third planning issue is the current public survey to determine land use plan within the approved railroad park that was planned in support of the El Dorado Western Railroad, the county owned and managed railroad currently from Shingle Springs east to Diamond Springs, contesting using the land which has been earmarked for shops, yard tracks, turntable, and rail exhibits into a regional unlimited recreational venue area. Your assistance is critical , send a letter objecting to El Dorado County Supervisors insisting on the retention of the historic Placerville Branch,maintaining rail excursion public service for 99% of the community and tourists compared to the exclusionary bike path model of decimating and covering the track,and retention of the approved concept plan for the railroad park design at El Dorado for El Dorado Western Railroad county artifacts and public service rail excursion equipment.
