Yeah, this is sad. In the June 2015 issue of Railpace, editor Tom Nemeth wrote an editorial critical of Amtrak management. He faults Amtrak for degrading dining service on the Silver Star, and he is highly critical regarding the slow progress of the Viewliner 2 order, pointing out that after five years, the new sleepers and diners are not complete.

One might ask why Amtrak funding should be increased given that they can't seem to properly manage a simple 130-car order?
