If you don't mind walking a bit, you could park at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), which is at the south end of "Crossing Alley". And don't forget that the Oregon Rail Heritage Center is right across the street from OMSI.
If you're here on a weekend, the Oregon Pacific RR has Saturday excursions from the heritage center down its riverfront line to Oaks Amusement Park.
In addition to the historical rolling stock at the heritage center, you'll also see the Portland Streetcar, which has an OMSI stop, and you may also see MAX light rail trains testing on the Orange Line, which passes the south end of OMSI and ORHC and is scheduled to open for operations Sep. 12.
Just to the west of the museums, the new Tilikum Crossing bridge across the Willamette River will carry both light rail and streetcar. It's a "transit-only" bridge that will carry trains, buses, pedestrians and bicyclists, but no automobiles. It is scheduled to open to the public Aug. 9 as part of the annual Bridge Pedal bicycle event.
