The 4449 AFT return run back in 2002 was originally planned to go from Portland to Bend and then onto K Falls over the high line and down the Feather River Canyon to Sacramento. Train would have stayed on display at CSRM in Sacramento for a week then would have returned via the same route back to Portland. Approval was given back then by both the Union Pacific and BNSF for the trip to run. Only reason it was shortened to Bend, OR was for fear of not selling out the train to cover the trip costs from Portland to Sacramento and return so Bend ended up being the turn around point.
