I use Firefox for a browser. That will continue with Win10.
I use LibreOffice for writing, spreadsheets, etc. That will continue with Win10. Open Office is equivalent.
I use Thunderbird as an email client. That will continue with Win10 as long as AT&T/Yahoo allows POP & SMTP access.
All of the above are free, mostly open-source (if you really want to inspect 10s of thousands of lines of code), and work fine with Win 7-8-10.
Unless you are a business (or work for a business) that's heavily invested in MS Office and Outlook for corporate control reasons, I see no reason to buy them. The only thing of "value" from MS on my computer is the operating system, and even that is being called into question.
BTW, how do you tell when Win10 has been downloaded? I haven't seen any activity along that line yet.
